Using File Commander, you can browse files by Category. There are eight categories that help you find and manage your files by directory: internal storage, SD card, third clouds accounts, MobiDrive. You will find the Categories on Home.


  • Pictures

  • Archives
  • APK
You can hide and reorder the Category tiles. Additionally, the following quick access tiles can help you locate and manage your files 
  • Storage bars take you to Internal storage, SD card, MobiDrive. 
  • Third cloud accounts: you can add multiple cloud accounts including Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, and OneDrive. 
  • Vault helps you protect your sensitive files. 
  • Downloads: Displays the default Android download directory. 
  • Recent files shows you the list of recently opened files.
  • Convert File: File Commander's built-in file converter lets you convert your files between multiple file formats. 
  • Favorites* takes you to your favorite files and folders. 
  • PC File Transfer lets you transfer files between your Android phone or tablet, and your PC over WiFi.  
Organize the tiles
You can hide and reorder the Category tiles on Home. 
  1. Tap the Customize icon in the top right. 
  2. Select the categories you want displayed. 
    and, or 
  3. Drag and drop to rearrange the tiles. 


Note that you can not remove the Storage bars from Home.

File Commander Premium and Premium+ make it possible to restore accidentally deleted files and folders from the internal storage of an Android mobile device assuming that the files were not permanently wiped. 

Restore or Empty Recycle bin 

  1. On Home, tap the Recycle bin tile.
  2. Select the files and folders you want restored or permanently deleted one-by-one, or tap Select all icon on top. 
  3. Tap the Delete or Restore button on the bottom. 
Note that
  • You can restore files and folders you find in Recycle bin. You cannot restore files and folders that are not in the Recycle bin. 
  • Deleting a file or a folder from internal storage, you will be asked whether you want the file permanently deleted, or moved to the Recycle bin. Permanently deleted files and folders cannot be restored.

Vault allows for a new layer of security to your files. Vault is a protected area in File Commander that you can only access with a strong authentication method, such as your fingerprint, password or PIN.

Set up Vault

  1. To get started, tap the Vault tile on Home.
    If the tile is missing, tap the Cuztomize button in the top right first.
  2. Choose your authentication method.
  3. Tap the + icon to select the files or folders you want moved to Vault, or create a New folder.
Alternatively,
  1. Locate a file or a folder you want moved to the Vault.
  2. Tap the contextual menu, tap Move to Vault.
Delete Vault
  1. In Vault, tap the Menu in the top right.  
  2. tap Delete Vault.

Note that the action can not be reversed. 

Reset Vault
Your Vault PIN or password cannot be restored. Any files or folders within Vault will be deleted. The action can not be reversed. To reset Vault:

1. Open Vault from Home.
2. Tap 'I don't remember my password'.

Vault on SD card
You can set up Vault either on your SD card, or in internal memory. It is not possible to move Vault from one to another. The solution is to unsecure your file and folders before setting up Vault anew.

You can quickly convert files in hundreds of formats.
File conversions are included with File Commander Premium+, and available as an add-on in File Commander Premium.

1. Open the app. Tap the Convert File tile on Home. If you do not find the tile, tap the Customize button on top first.

2. Open the folder containing the file you want to convert. Tap to select the file.

3. Pick an output file format.

Alternatively,
1. Select the file you want converted.

2. Tap the menu in the top right. Select Convert.

Note that you can not convert your file to a format that it is not listed on the screen.




Convert files over mobile network
You can toggle on or off Convert Files over mobile network in app Settings. 

  1. In the Navigation drawer, tap Settings.

  2. Toggle off or on Convert files over mobile network

File Commander Premium and File Commander Premium+ both allow you to display hidden files and folders. These are the files and folders created by any process and apps installed on your device, and files and folders you choose to hide yourself. 

  1. In the Navigation drawer, tap Settings.

  2. Toggle on or off Show hidden files and folders. 


Hide a file or a folder
  1. Toggle on Show hidden files and folders. 

  2. Locate the file or folder you want hidden. 

  3. Rename it to begin with a dot (period). 

  1. Toggle off Show hidden files and folders.

Switching between FileCommander’s themes is a great way to keep it looking fresh and new again. The default theme is the Light one, but you can easily switch to the beautiful Dark theme in either of the two ways below:

1. On Home, tap the Customize icon in the top right, or 
    in the Navigation drawer, tap Settings, then tap Theme. 

2. Choose an option

  • Light
  • Dark
  • Set by Battery Saver

File Commander comes with a built-in image viewer, video and audio player. While the audio player is reserved for Premium and Premium+ users, the image viewer and video player are both available in File Commander Free. 

Audio player controls

  • Shuffle
  • Repeat a single audio file
Video player controls 
  • Skip 10 seconds forward
  • Skip 10 seconds backward


Toggle on or off 
  1. In the Navigation drawer, tap Settings.

  2. Toggle on or off 
  • Open images in File Commander and, or 
  • Play media files in File Commander

File Commander and OfficeSuite integrate to deliver complete document editing and file management on Android. 

The two share MobiDrive - our cloud storage service with the purpose to expand your ability to store files beyond the limits of your device. 

Use File Commander to manage the files you view and edit in OfficeSuite. When you tap to open a file, File Commander passes the file to OfficeSuite. 

Toggle on or off 

  1. In the Navigation drawer, tap Settings.

  2. Toggle on or off Open Documents in OfficeSuite.
